Ditch Checks

For years we have seen straw bales and silt fence used for ditch checks. The main problem with the straw bales and silt fence is they don’t work. Straw bales are continually getting blown out because they are either not installed correctly or the flow in the channel is too great. Silt fence is not designed to be a ditch check, yes they pass water but not at a high enough rate to relieve the pressure of the water in the channel and end up being washed down the channel.
